Chrome Omnibox

In this article I will talk about what I think is one of the coolest stuff out there, the chrome omnibox. If I had to tell you about omnibox in one sentence it would be this:
With Chrome omnibox you don't have to visit a site to search its contents, you can directly do that from your browsers address bar which chrome calles omnibox.

Once you search any site manually (Going to the site, giving the keyword in the search bar of the site), the next time you can directly search that site from Chrome’s address bar itself.

Giving it a try?
To try using the omnibox lets take an example. Almost all of us have used wikipedia for some or the other reason and until omnibox arrived the only way to search wikipedia was to visit the site and then search but with omnibox you can save time. Just start typing wikipedia and chrome should give you an option to search wikipedia.

So if you wanna see this in action follow these steps:
1) Start typing wikipedia you should see an option pop up in the address bar (omnibox):

2) Click on tab then enter whatever you want to search on wikipedia

3) It should directly redirect you to the wikipedia page for that topic

Whats cooler is you could even search for people, pages and groups on facebook directly from the omnibox. Just type facebook and a space after that and then you can search for stuff in facebook from your browser directly. The sad part however is that this search is not the same as graph search on facebook where you could use expressions like "Photos of me with XYZ". It is understandable though because graph search is facebook's product and chrome is google's. So unless the two companies strike a deal or something we cannot expect to use graph search through a browser.
